Two public school districts serve the city. Much of the city lies within the Leavenworth USD 453; while Fort Leavenworth USD 207 serves this area through middle school grades.
Advanced education abounds in this town. Fort Leavenworth is home to the Command and General Staff College, the School of Command Prep, The Army Management Staff College, and the School of Advanced Military Studies. The University of St. Mary is in Leavenworth.
